What is Transitions?
• A Year 10 program for students disengaged from mainstream education aged from 15 to 17 years old.
• Funded by EQ - an extension of Browns Plains High School
• Students are from Browns Plains, Loganlea, Boronia Heights, Park Ridge and Jimboomba
• Students are referred to the program by their previous schools, community organisations, youth workers and parents/guardians.
• A transition either back to mainstream school or into an apprenticeship or traineeship.

What do we do?
• Year 10 Mathematics and English Modules
• Students are given exams on the content in the modules/workbooks
• Problem areas are identified and students re-do areas of difficulty
• Three groups of 6-7 students
• Assistance with administration and running the program
• Four days a week- 2 hours per session
• Wednesdays are free for students to be involved in work experience or casual employment

The Learning Environment
• A comfortable and relaxed learning environment
• Music and Visual Art
• Small groups
• Positive affirmation
• Students work through the modules at their own pace
• Developing positive relationships with students

Extra-curricular Activities
• Varying the learning environment
• Using extra-curricular activities as a reward and incentive
• Learning from industry professionals
