The main aims of the GSFW program are to prepare you for employment, further training or a return to school however we will also provide a wide range of experiences that will increase your ability to work as part of a team, increase your level of skill, boost your confidence and self esteem and increase your knowledge.

Get Set for Work (GSFW) is a 6 month government funded program for unemployed young people aged between 15-17. From 2006 young queenslanders must stay in education or training after yr 10 until they have a senior certificate, a certificate III vocational qualification, turned 17 or have a full-time job. It’s part of the state government’s Education and Training Reforms for the Future (ETRF).

GSFW is one option under the reforms for young people.

The program is a combined theory and ‘on the job’ learning experience. During the GSFW program your training will include:

Basic computer skills and assessment and development
Outdoor and experiential learning
Literacy and numeracy assessment and development
Job search skills training
Individual case management
Work Experience

Elective Elements
Graphic design
Digital Audio recording and live music production
Radio broadcasting
Basic mechanical
Outdoor/adventure activity training
Basic construction

Supplementary Elements
