Get Set for Work is a free course available to youth aged 15-17 yrs who are not attending school and are looking to gain employment.  Students participating will learn skills needed to assist them in getting and keeping employment.  Depending on which elective the student chooses they will also learn extra skills in either field to assist them in gaining experience for the workforce.

 



What is it?

The duration of the course is 6 months so students who come into the course later in the term can continue the course in the following intake as to complete courses and gain certificates.

 

All students who complete either course will finish with a Certificate 1 in Work Education as well as the Get Set for Work certificate

 

Music and Visual Arts

 

Students who choose Music/ Visual Arts as their elective will gain skills in…

-         Music Production

-         Audio Engineering

-         Songwriting

-         Photography

-         Art

-         Graphic Design

 

Students work on projects such as releasing a CD or compiling a portfolio of their artwork. Courses are tailored to suit the interest of each individual.

 

Construction and Life Skills

 

Construction and Life Skills

-         Onsite Building experience

-         Glass Cutting (Lead Lighting)

-         Woodwork

-         Outdoor Recreation such as Rock-climbing and  High Ropes.

 

Students receive their blue card in construction along with senior first aid.
